Game Level - Desert Temple

This playable level was created as a group for our final postgraduate project entitled Site 57: Celestial Ruins. A team of scientists set out to explore and research undiscovered creature remains and a mysterious temple of unknown origin. Inside the temple is a makeshift lab where the team carries out their studies. The player is able to collect samples, explore the territory, open and close doors, as well as test the samples at the lab. Acting as Art Director in the group of five, I directed the general art style, design elements, and materials for the project while also keeping the visual direction on track throughout the duration of the project for overall consistency. On top of modeling, texturing, and animation, I was also tasked with cinematography, lighting, sound effects, audio editing, concept art and logo design. Several modeling and texturing techniques were used across the project to allow for efficient optimization including traditional low/high poly modeling, mid-poly modeling, traditional texturing methods, trim sheets, as well as tileable textures paired with channel masking for larger scale pieces. As a team, we had regular meetings and work sessions to iron out the main aspects of the level and to ensure timelines were always met. Every person on the team exhibited a strong passion and desire to produce the best work possible under tight timelines.
